After Nottdance 2017 and BUZZCUT 2017 Ah kissing is coming to DanceLive Festival Aberdeen on 14 October! We are looking for a diverse group of participants of all ages (16+), genders, abilities, sexualities and ethnicities to take part. You don’t need to have performance experience to perform in the work – only to have a kissing partner.
Ah kissing is public art work performed by the public in public places. Ah kissing aims to generate a highly charged and delicate relational event, that stills and elongates time, that bleeds into public spaces, that gathers communities and quietly performs multitudinous love
To participate in the performance we would like you to be in touch now! – at latest by Tuesday 10 October. You’ll need to be available eve of Friday 13th for rehearsal and afternoon of Saturday 14th for performance.
The performance involves gazing and holding – as well as kissing. You kiss in your own way. The approach draws from mindfulness and martial arts practices to develop mental and physical focus, group awareness and a sense of commonality among all sorts of people. There’s a Try Out Session and the Kissing For Art’s Sake Workshop for singles too.
Try Out Session Saturday 30 September 15.00-17.00 at Citymoves, Top Floor, Triple Kirks, AB10 1JS – you can come with your partner and get an initial feel for what’s involved. You’ll be able to test the water, ask some questions and gain practical experience of the project. Be in touch to sign up firstname.lastname@example.org
Kissing for Art’s Sake Workshop Wednesday 11th October 18.00-20.00 at Museum Room, Anatomy Rooms, Shoe Lane, AB10 1AP – for singles who don’t have a kissing partner but are interested in performing in Ah kissing. Come to this workshop to find out more and maybe partner up with someone else who will also ‘kiss for art’s sake’ – consensual kissing only!

“Thanks for a wonderful experience – I absolutely loved being a part of Ah kissing; it was a profound thing for me.”
“We loved the experience, and we are so glad that we joined in”
“Initially I was a bit apprehensive, but Rosanna’s guidance was very gentle and her instructions were very clear, so I felt held by that and also by the strong sense of the group, which emerged quite quickly. A really interesting project to be part of – made some new friends and had a totally new experience.”
“Thank you for such an amazing experience, I loved all of it, the rehearsals, the performance, the getting to know everyone. I’m so glad I took part!”
What the reviewers have said
“I was struck by the capacity of [Ah kissing] to challenge, provoke, and quietly shift the meaning of what it was we were doing out in town on a weekend afternoon, out among strangers, among each other” Nathan Thomas at Nottdance.
“an utter delight” Laura Kressly at Buzzcut
